This weight-activated squirrel-resistant bird feeder uses a moving lower shroud around its feeding ports. Small birds can land on the wire perches and feed normally; when a heavier animal loads the lower assembly, the shroud moves down to cover the openings. Installation & use

Hang the feeder from a secure branch hook, shepherd's hook or feeder station. Leave at least 19 inches (48 cm) of open clearance on every side so a squirrel cannot lean in from a nearby trunk, branch, railing or other foothold without placing weight on the feeder. Confirm that the hanging loop is fully seated before filling. Use dry black-oil sunflower seed, sunflower hearts or another free-flowing seed sized for the ports.

Care & cleaning

Discard damp or spoiled seed and brush away hulls regularly. Empty the feeder before cleaning, then rinse the mesh chamber, lower housing and perches with warm water. Use mild dish soap when needed, rinse thoroughly and let every part dry completely before refilling. Separate the two water-trough pieces for cleaning and refresh any drinking water daily. Inspect the loop, stem, perches and moving shroud before rehanging.
